Bertino was passionate about photography since before he had a camera, always feeling a need to record the beauty that surrounded him. At age 15 he scrapped toghether enough money to buy his first camera, which was upgraded to a DSLR at age 19. He took his passion to the next level when he swiched courses at the university, to study photography at a higher level. He studied photography and video (which became a second passion of his) at the Politechnic Institute of Porto. After finishing his studies he started working professionally in these areas, which brought him to contact with the scene of swing dancing in Portugal. He was immediately smitten by the exuberant energy and joy displayed by the dancers. From then on he has been working closelly with the comunity, tackling the technical difficulties specific to this niche of photography, while simmultaneously developing his personal style. The qualities he values the most in a photograph are composition, good lighting, proper technique, and, above all, an emotional charge.
